LOCAL LGBTQ+ ORGANISATIONS

MIND OUT is a mental health service run by and for lesbians, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people.  We work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern.  We recognise that our communities are wonderfully diverse and welcome all LGBTQ+ people.

OLDER & OUT are a fully inclusive social group for local Older LGBTQUI people. Based in Brighton, we are open to all.  Every month we provide a social network and community space in our fully accessible Centre where you’ll get the chance to socialise and meet new people. Each month we provide a tasty, nutritious socialising lunch.

THE CLARE PROJECT supports transgender, non-binary and gender-variant people in Brighton and across Sussex. We run various events and offer peer support to anyone wishing to explore issues around gender identity.

LUNCH POSITIVE provide a welcoming, supportive and peer-led HIV community space. We offer healthy & enjoyable lunches, evening supper groups, and plenty of  opportunities to socialise with other positive people across Brighton and beyond.  We aim to create spaces where everyone feels comfortable and included – a great way to make new friends and to find peer support!

L.A.S.T LGBT+ Ally Support Team is a FREE safe space session for young people who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community or wish to better support LGBTQ+ young people.  This is a weekly session at Newhaven Youth Centre on Denton Island every Tuesday 5.15-6.30pm providing a range of fun and educational activities centred around LGBTQ+ themes. All sessions are led by Young Leaders who are part of the Newhaven Young People’s Forum. There are often snacks and drinks too! Young people aged 12-17years old welcome.

SWITCHBOARD is a charity for LGBTQ people looking for a sense of community, support or information.  We connect people and support them directly through specially developed Switchboard services or link them other specialist organisations. Set up in 1975 Switchboard has been listening to and informing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people in Brighton & Hove and beyond.  Originally a helpline, we have developed additional services and now offer much more.

TRANSOBER community peer support group for the TNBI community by the community. It's open to all TNBI people who feel they would benefit from attending a peer support group around drug and alcohol use or feels it would benefit  them to continue to live their life without drugs and alcohol.
All facilitators have genuine life experiences, are part of the
community, and are proud to now live an alcohol and drug free life.
We meet at The Trans Pride Center, St James's Street, Brighton,
BN2 1TP every Monday 6pm-7.30pm and Thursday 1pm-2.30pm. This is a drop-in group so feel to join us.

Allsorts Youth Project listens to, connects & supports children & young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity (LGBT+) and their families.  It provides non-judgemental and safe spaces for children and young people to connect, feel heard, valued and safe.
